Using Custom Clay’s Hot Sand (Topdressing Sand) enabled Bethpage State Park to properly prepare the Black Course for the 2002 USGA Open. Light weekly topdressing was an intrical factor in providing firm, fast greens in preparing the course for the National Championship.

I have been using the heat-treated, USGA spec. greens topdressing sand from Custom Clay since 1998. It is an exceptionally consistent product that spreads uniformly. Using this product has made light, frequent topdressing applications absolutely painless. We can usually skip brushing and simply water in these type of applications. It has also made backfilling holes after aerification considerably easier and faster. I would highly recommend this product to any superintendent searching for a greens topdressing material.

Custom Clay’s Hot Sand has been an important part of my greens management program since it came on the market 5 years ago. Its consistency of size and share and the ease with which it works into the canopy, make it a great product for light frequent light topdressing. We put it down at 300-400 pounds per green, twice a month, with minimal negative impact on the mowers and maximum positive impact on playability.

Since the Stadium Red™ Infield Mix was put down; the amount of daily maintenance has decreased substantially. We have noticed, especially with the weather conditions over the past month the field is playable much quicker the other fields in the area that are not using Stadium Red™. Not only have we noticed less dust, but also the red color on the field looks beautiful. It was a job well done!
